Mary and I arrived at the lake on Saturday morning at around 8:30 am.
Our new carping friend Rick was already fishing and had caught and
released 2 carp, one about 8 lbs and one about 16 lbs. The action
pretty well died once Mary and I started fishing but after an hour or
so Rick hooked into a real battler that turned out to be the mirror
carp that has been caught and released many times before. Mary caught
it last year on September 3 and Mick's son Wes caught it earlier in
2003. It weighed 11 lbs when Wes caught it, 11½ lbs when Mary
caught it and 12 lbs 2 oz this morning. I'm waiting until it reaches
15 lbs or more and then I'll catch it.
Mary caught a nice carp of about 13 or 14 lbs a little later and then
it shut down for the day so I didn't end up catching anything but it
was worth the trip just to see the mirror carp caught again.
